Happy New Years, users.

I'll cut to the chase; the barrier we instilled a few months ago is decaying quickly and we're sorting through the new data as fast as we can. This barrier was originally designed to contain a rogue error. There are several of you who have taken care of this issue and from here we will handle the rest...thank you. The influx of data will help us decode our next steps.

As mentioned, we've spent December tracing several magical sources that are coming up in our readings. We're doing the best we can to trace Clarence--Mr. Vanderweele, and corral the effects he's altering in the city. I believe we're ready to tear down the firewall and begin exploring further. If our information is correct, we're really breaking the boundaries of the layers we've discovered lately! It's exciting, don't you think?

The only information I can offer is that we will need you to be strong no matter what happens. We believe things have changed outside of security measures we've set in place, though we will need more data to understand the best way to stabilize the city from his control. We understand if you cannot and do not wish to help, but please know we're doing everything we can.

Please take care.

More layer nonsense again? And wait, Clarence? He's the guy that like, founded the company or something, isn't he? I remember he was important somehow at least.

But I am. Debating how much I agree with the 'exciting' part. Every time you guys say that, things seem to get more crazy than usual. I am really doubting this will be as 'exciting' in a good way like she seems to think.

Still, I guess we don't exactly have much choice. Kind of have to help them, right? I mean. If we don't that probably, usually, means we're screwed. This app stuff better not mess too much with me finishing this last year of school.

What, do you think that the teachers in this city who don't have the app won't accept "the monster ate my homework" as an excuse since they never seem to notice any of the consequences of this Retrospec bullshit?

[ Because he'll fight them if they don't. He's actually been trying since he became a junior, damn it! ]

Pretty sure that would be a 'you didn't do the homework, stop making up stories and wait after school for detention.'

Even if that might be true. The app is ridiculous and sucks like that. Even if I try explain to my foster dad, he wouldn't believe any of it.

I honestly can't say that I blame them despite that being a huge inconvenience for us. I know I didn't believe a word that a friend of mine had to say about the app until I got it myself... and even then, I only started believing him when things started actually happening.

Still, it would have been nice if Vanderweele could have waited until summer break to pull this shit like Retrospec did last year. Yeah, it sucked that they ruined our vacation, but at least they didn't screw our futures twice over that way.

It's just one more reason for us to do what we can to stop this Vanderweele guy. I've worked too hard for him to mess my life up now.

[ he'll fight too, he guesses. ]

Yeah, it's frustrating when I occasionally forget my cousin doesn't have the app anymore and I try say something. It just confuses her now.

But ugh. Don't remind me. I do agree though. I'm sure together, we'll figure something.

In the end, it's always the students who lead the charge when it comes to change, isn't it?

Let's all form a brigade of our own whenever that change does come to the city.

[ Because at this rate, it's inevitable. Still, it's nice to be able to actually prepare for Retrospec's shenanigans for once. ]

I dunno. Wouldn't surprise me if it was usually students though. We're the young ones that have to deal with this stuff in the future, and that have more time in comparison to people working full time and all that. I guess.

I can't even remember how many at school still have the app.
