Happy New Years, users. I'll cut to the chase; the barrier we instilled a few months ago is decaying quickly and we're sorting through the new data as fast as we can. This barrier was originally designed to contain a rogue error. There are several of you who have taken care of this issue and from here we will handle the rest...thank you. The influx of data will help us decode our next steps. As mentioned, we've spent December tracing several magical sources that are coming up in our readings. We're doing the best we can to trace Clarence--Mr. Vanderweele, and corral the effects he's altering in the city. I believe we're ready to tear down the firewall and begin exploring further. If our information is correct, we're really breaking the boundaries of the layers we've discovered lately! It's exciting, don't you think? The only information I can offer is that we will need you to be strong no matter what happens. We believe things have changed outside of security measures we've set in place, though we will need more data to understand the best way to stabilize the city from his control. We understand if you cannot and do not wish to help, but please know we're doing everything we can. Please take care. I'm not sure if I can call any of this 'exciting'. Being told to 'stay strong' without telling us what we're supposed to expect is more worrisome than anything else.

On the subject of 'magical sources' though... how many of us here have abilities that one would consider 'magic'? That is, drawing or channeling power from oneself to do things that can't be explained by scientific means. Derek had mentioned the idea of the 'sources' they're looking for possibly being people, so it might be good to get a count in that regard.

See, I can't tell if Joanne is worried or excited. Barrier going down= bad. Clarence alive= not great. Tear down the fire wall= exciting? Be strong no matter what happens? What was I doing before Joanne? What? Do not ruin my new year this way!

Also, when did we know Clarence Vanderweele was alive? I had my suspicions and I heard it from someone else, but when was this discovered?

Hitori Togusa Possibly not? There was talk of magic being found at the four "original" areas, the four cities that have cropped up outside of Recolle. That might be what Retrospec is looking into.

Yeah, I use magic, fire magic, not exactly sure about the power source, but I die if I use too much of it at once. I also seem to be able to summon a black sword that cuts about everything I swing at.

If I use a lot, I need to either rest or absorb a different source of fire.

Kinda? My staff mostly just amplifies it and makes it easier to channel spells. But I can still do some spells without it. I also have another device on me that I use to help me with spells, especially the elemental-based ones.

Haha, yeah no kidding. I just get that question a lot: "how does your magic work" - I never know how exactly to answer.
