What lead you to it?
Do you like it or is it just a job to you?
After you got memories back would you rather be doing what you are in those memories?

Wanting to be like my mother is what got me on track for it, in part. After awhile I learned to love it on my own terms.

As for the things I remember...

I don't know. That's harder to say, I think, if I would really prefer one over the other.

I'm starting to realize I don't like acting.
It was something I chose out of spite.

In my other life I was working to be a hero.
But that's not really something I can do here.

My career was a symbol of freedom to me. Even if that’s not what really gives us freedom, I know I fight for it. I still wouldn’t change it for anything.

I believe I told you, but I'll say it, again.
My father's wish was that I take over his business.
It's just a job to me.
I don't think I would like to do what I was doing in my memories.
In my memories, I apparently was a priest.

Of all the things you could be, I wouldn't have guessed priest.

i was scouted for modeling at my junior year of high school and i never looked back

I already knew what my strengths were, academically speaking. Figuring out how to apply them to a major and career was the tricky part. I talked to a lot of people. My professors, academic adviser, friends. They all gave different suggestions and I looked into them. None of them seemed like the right fit. Then my best friend suggested forensic science. And it clicked.

So, I really enjoy my job. I feel I am doing something meaningful and something that will help people. It has its boring days, but in the end, this is the kind of work I want to do.

My other self is a police detective. Which is somewhat related to what I do. But I don't think I'd want to be one myself. His life is pretty dangerous.

Something meaningful, huh? I think I'd like that.

[But something more direct. Something where he gets to physically help people instead of being in a lab.]

My other self is training to be a pro hero. But that's not a job I can do here. There's no market for it. Plus I'm not interested in fighting.

Simply a job. There's enjoyment in it, yes, but the novelty has faded with time.
As for why I started it, well. It was the only thing I was good at. I can't answer the last question, I'm not sure whether I'd prefer that or not.

What do you do?
You don't have to answer that.

I'm working as a voice actor here, but I don't really like it.
And the reason I started isn't a good reason anymore.

I've been a barista for around four years now, but I guess that's not really a "career"... I like it ok, but it's just a job. I'd quit if I stopped needing money for some reason.
In the future I'm aiming to become a surgeon, though with everything that goes on with Retrospec, it's started feeling kind of remote. Like, I'm going to keep working toward it unless something happens that makes it impossible, but even if I make a five-year plan for med school and residency and stuff, it seems like it's just as likely I'll be in some other dimension or trying to raise dragons or something by then.

I don't want to do what I was doing in my memories.

A surgeon. How did you decide on that?
It's possible. It's happened a few times already.
Falling into unreality and getting bused out of the city.

What was that?

I picked my job because I knew I'd be damn good at it.
Can't say it's my favorite thing in the world but it has perks.
Though after seeing some of my memories it almost feels like this is just where my life was headed.

Then your memories and your current life match up?
At least when it comes to your job.

I was fascinated by an ice skating performance I saw on television when I was young. I certainly feel like it's a passion, as no feeling can compare to being on the rink.

It must be nice to have something you feel so strongly about.

I decided to go into journalism because there are some people out there who want to make a stand for what they believe in, but they need a little helping hand to get it done. Getting their names and their cause in the news is the best way I know to give them the support they need.

And it turns out I was trying to do something similar in a past life, except that time I was on the other end of it.

That's a good goal to pursue. There are a lot of people who need help out there.

What's the other end of journalism?

truthfully, i found out about it when i was younger and thought it encompassed enough of my interests to try it.
i like it, though not enough to make it my entire life.
and my memories don't have me doing anything like it - but i'd still choose what i do now. at least i know how to do this job properly, you know?

Sometimes that's enough. I don't think a career has to be a person's whole life.
But it's important that it's something they like doing.
I think I can understand that, at least a little.

I needed something to do with my life after my last career failed. I picked this one because even though it wasn't what I wanted to do when I was younger, it was something I believed in (and still do).

...and the other me was a wizard. And a prince, I guess? so I'm not sure anyone would pay me to do that now LOL (◠‿◠✿)

You're in social work, right? I heard a little bit about that.

You never know about the wizard part. There were definitely dragons around. Isn't it Wizards &
Dragons, or something like that?

My best friend and some stories about my father led me to where I wanted to go in life. Sorey was a huge, borderline-embarrassing fan of Carolina Jones when we were kids (and he still is), so a lot of our playtime involved those kinds of adventures. My father traveled around the world, and I grew up on stories about where he'd been and what he'd done. It was kind of a done deal when Sorey and I promised to work hard towards becoming archaeologists.

I do like my current job, though. It's fun and lively, and I get to put what I learned in culinary arts into practice.

Funny, though. The memories I have of my past life are basically what I'm working towards as a college student, though with a lot more complications and hardship. Still, it seemed like he'd been just as much into history and ruins exploration as I am now.

So you and your best friend wanted to be archeologists if I'm reading that right. But you're a cook now?

How did that happen?

I started volunteering when I was very young thanks to my parents

I stuck with it for ages for the joy of it, and to honor their memory

and now I know that it's the thing I want to spend the rest of my life doing

oh, and the Minako in my memories was only a high school sophomore, so unless monster hunting can count as a career now, my past life is irrelevant

What kind of volunteer work did you do?
It sounds like you were really close to your parents.
I'ts good you found something that suits you so well.

I don't really have memories of what I did before, but with what I do now - it kind of just started because I wanted to help my family save money on uniforms, so I would just make my own. Plus the ones usually available for boys were boring :T

You're a tailor?
What did you need a uniform for?

I simply enjoyed drawing, and developed my skills over the years and it paid off.
It seems as if the other me also was into art, though he was also a poet and wood carver, it's skills I would be interested in but I have worked to get where I am today and I wouldn't give that up.

[ He can't add "for anything" at the end, because he's not sure if that would be true. ]

That's understandable.
Did you draw a lot when you were little?

its both just a job and something i like though it was completely random that I ended up working at the cafe
i dont know what the memories me works with yet i havent gotten that memory yet

How long have you had the app?
It only took me a month or two to figure that out.

My degree is actually in economics, and I only seriously got into design after that, though I think I was always creative and always liked making people look good.

[ Well, making himself look good. And insulting everyone else's tastes. ]

It was kind of a rocky road getting that late a start and figuring everything out for myself, but I'm glad I did.

And I definitely prefer this to what I was doing in the memories I've been getting back.

You went from economics to designing clothes?
How'd you make that leap?

Because I got an early head start on it thanks to using Mom's name.
