Thank you for the kimono. I know you don't actually choose when these things get sent out, but it's well-timed. Maybe we'll get a random temple showing up in the city and I can visit for New Year's.

My favorite holiday tradition's still good old KFC.

KFC on Christmas is a proud Japanese tradition dating all the way back to the 1970s.

Some really good marketing campaigns. Also Christmas not being a big thing in Japan previously, so you absolutely can get people to associate the holiday with your food chain.

In the 70s when Christmas was just being exported to Japan, KFC did some really good marketing campaigns and now it's associated with the holiday there.

It's a Japanese thing. Christmas Eve, romantic dinner with your significant other. Christmas Day, KFC.

I would like to hope that in the US where Christmas Day is a bigger deal, they're closed, but I don't have that much faith in fast food chains.

yeah, it's nice to think about but, um, i don't know if... well, maybe the fast food restaurants in the city don't have to listen to corporate anymore? maybe they can just decide to be nice to their employees for once

Chinese restaurants have a history of being open, you know that when you apply for the job. More places being open on the holidays when they weren't before is a sign of corporate greed and disregard for their employees.
