Happy New Years, users.

I'll cut to the chase; the barrier we instilled a few months ago is decaying quickly and we're sorting through the new data as fast as we can. This barrier was originally designed to contain a rogue error. There are several of you who have taken care of this issue and from here we will handle the rest...thank you. The influx of data will help us decode our next steps.

As mentioned, we've spent December tracing several magical sources that are coming up in our readings. We're doing the best we can to trace Clarence--Mr. Vanderweele, and corral the effects he's altering in the city. I believe we're ready to tear down the firewall and begin exploring further. If our information is correct, we're really breaking the boundaries of the layers we've discovered lately! It's exciting, don't you think?

The only information I can offer is that we will need you to be strong no matter what happens. We believe things have changed outside of security measures we've set in place, though we will need more data to understand the best way to stabilize the city from his control. We understand if you cannot and do not wish to help, but please know we're doing everything we can.

That really does depend on what's meant by that. There are certainly far less of us here than there used to be.

Well, dropping off the act and becoming sleepers again.

I just seen some people drop and...I'm just wondering if in general they do alright, despite all the shit they go through here.

...I've known several, personally, that have experienced that. They seem to be doing well enough; I'm still in contact with some of them.

I know there are a few that have gone offline only to come back some time later, as well.

I don't know if this was the fault of Retrospec itself, but it happened on their watch. A friend of mine and I went into Bosuma to look into some strange things that had been happening there; while I was there, all of my memories of my life here were erased. I had only the memories of my past life left, and no concept of who I was outside of that.

How long did that last? Was it longer then the two months last year when some people's lives shifted?

It wasn't nearly that long. Only a few days, perhaps? But it resolved itself quickly enough.

Ah, okay, so not that bad, duration wise anyhow.

Hopefully not too many people were like "I'm going to take over the world!" sort of deal.

I can't speak for others, but I've never been shy about my own memories - mine are all something along those lines. Not "taking over", per se, but not doing anything good for the world, either. To put it gently.

Freak...and some people were on my ass for apparently leading a group a thieves.

Oh, yes. I was apparently some sort of supervillain, where I came from. It took a while to make my peace with it; the memories have been hideous to acclimate to. But I'm certain that I've remembered the worst of it by now, and I know that I was stopped before I managed to wipe out an absurdly large number of people, so I suppose that's made it a bit easier to handle.

People are generally willing to listen on the network, should you have difficulty with your own memories; I know I've offered to talk to people in the past myself, just because sometimes they're ugly things.

Weeellll Idk about that...some people can't deal with NORMAL mermories that aren't exactly "normal" well, so I'm kinda skeptical about their ablity for much.

Mine aren't really that bad...just, questionable? I guess? I don't have too much context, mostly fighting nightmare fuel monsters. But I'm some prince that left, came back, got pissed and lead some sort of revolt.

We had monsters as well where I came from. I created several of them, and the ones I didn't create I certainly encouraged the spread of.

"Questionable" is at least a step above "terrible"; they sound interesting, at any rate.

I'm pretty sure all of mine were of the magical variety you would see in some Arabian story, Djinns, mermaids, sea monsters, to name a few of the big ones.

It was science, on my end. Allegedly, anyway; I'm fairly sure science doesn't actually work like that in any realistic capacity.

I worked with viruses back then, primarily, although there were a fair number of parasites and other organisms as well. Things that were designed to induce mutations in people and animals.

Sounds like something from a zombie movie, did you just binge watch several and got a crap ton of memories back?

...You know, somehow it never occurred to me to try that.

...Oh...well, did you even want them? I sort of see them as exicting stories of what could have been.

Better than my actual memories anyway.

Yes and no, I suppose. It's always been important to me to have some sort of understanding of who I used to be in my past life, since all of this started.

It's been difficult, but that hasn't changed.

I'm honestly still on the fence about how much of what Retrospec is saying, all this other world stuff...WAAAYY above my pay grade.

Not that I'm opposed to the concept, just, I've found it better not to really think about it too hard, makes it easier to accept...sort of.

Understandably so on all counts. I can't say I fault you for it in the least.

Meh, he's not ALL bad.

Just like 90-95 percent of him, optimistically.

I'm family so I sort of contractually obligated to give him the benefit of the doubt...most days.
